Scott “Band Man” Williams will conduct his last band concert at 6 p.m. tonight in the Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium where there will be a slide show to commemorate his career as director of the Lufkin Panther Band.
The slideshow is expected to last between 10-20 minutes and will have pictures of Williams throughout his career and some pictures of his bands.
A second slideshow, one for seniors, was created by the two drum majors – Elizabeth Foreman and Samantha Sorrells. The slideshow will have a baby picture and a recent picture of each senior band member.
The Concert Band is going to play two pieces that they have recently played for the Concert and Sight-reading contests – Amazonas and Foundry along with two additional pieces, Mars and Night On A Bald Mountain.
The Symphonic Band will be playing Action Front, a song that they played for Concert and Sight-reading, and three additional pieces – Pirates of The Caribbean, Hallelujah, and Stars and Stripes Forever.
While performing Stars and Stripes Forever, a few Lufkin alumni members will join in the Symphonic Band.
Many band directors are going to be in the audience in support of Band Man’s last concert.
To end the concert the right way, the Symphonic Band will perform the school song and fight song one last time for Williams and the seniors. And as usual, the jam band will perform its signature songs.
Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
