As had been done in the past, Apple attracted the eyes of the world to its release event on September 10. Reporters and journalists from every medium swarmed Apple’s presentation hall, keenly awaiting the tech giant’s latest move. Apple’s top executives confirmed what had previously been only rumors: the iPhone 5s and its counterpart, the 5c.

First on Apple’s list of ground-breaking announcements was iOS 7. Proving requisite for their latest iPhones, iOS 7 completely redesigns the iPhone experience. Striving to achieve simple elegance and maximum efficiency, the new operating system eliminates any unnecessary elements through a minimalistic style, allowing the user to focus on what matters most: their content.

In addition to iOS 7 enhancements, iOS will now come with iWork installed. This valued software, includes Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, applications intended to “make your documents, and presentations even more brilliant,” according to Apple. With this power in their palms, iOS users have the ability to be even more  when on the go, all at their convenience.

Concluding the presentation of the newly designed iOS, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook walked onto the stage with the news all had intensely awaited.

So, as the audience seemed to hold its breath, Cook introduced the iPhone 5c, followed by an astonishing announcement: the iPhone 5 was being discontinued. Previously, when Apple released a new iPhone, their last model would simply be sold at a lower price. However, introducing 2 new phones at this event, Apple completely replaced the iPhone 5 with the 5c.

Though considerably cheaper than previous models, the 5c does not lack quality. Sporting a colorful polycarbonate casing, the 5c stays true to the strength and image of an iPhone, yet develops a distinct, memorable personality. The phone’s hardware is strikingly similar to the 5’s, even running on the same A6 processor, but slight enhancements, such as its longer battery life and smarter camera, make the iPhone 5c  a suitable replacement for the iPhone 5.

Having built even greater hype, Tim Cook followed the colorful 5c announcement with the long-awaited news: the iPhone 5s.

As Apple’s latest flagship product, the iPhone 5s comes equipped with the industry’s most cutting edge technologies. The A7 processor, the core of the 5s, is the first 64-bit smartphone processor, a promising milestone for Apple’s future endeavors. In accordance with the rumors that had long lingered, the 5s’ most significant feature is its home-button fingerprint scanner. This biometric lock promises to make securing iPhones an easier and more effective practice.

Upholding Apple’s tradition of quality, the 5s sports a highly improved camera designed to capture and display images more accurately than ever before. Hardware developments allow the 5s’ camera to take slow-motion video at 120 frames per second, making those memorable moments last even longer. Furthermore, the camera is complimented by a dual LED flash system, which will help to capture moments in their full, undistorted colors.

With its iPhone lineage still growing strong, Apple has made innovative steps towards providing consumers with smartphones that push the boundaries of technology.

Apple’s newest phones will be released September 20, following iOS 7’s release on the 18
