Lufkin High School’s cheer squads and Panther Pride drill team have partnered to raise money for Susan G. Komen.

The organization’s mission is to “save lives by ensuring that all people receive the care they need, and finding breakthroughs to prevent and cure breast cancer.”

LHS Cheer and Panther Pride are aiming to raise $1,000 for the organization. Donors can make a one-time donation or pledge any dollar amount per touchdown scored by the Panthers football team during its game against Tomball on Oct. 19. After the game, donors will receive an email with the amount of their donations based on Lufkin’s performance that night.

“We’re giving out pins at the homecoming pep rally and at homecoming in hopes of spreading the word about our fundraiser,” Head Cheer Coach Kirstie Russell said.
