The annual Christmas Parade is the beginning of the Christmas season in Lufkin.

This year’s City of Lufkin Downtown Christmas Parade was held Monday night with the theme “A Hollywood Christmas.” The parade included floats, music, and handing out candy.

Hundreds of students from Lufkin High School, Lufkin Middle School and other LISD campuses joined to celebrate the Christmas season. The parade included many businesses, including H-E-B, CBTx and others.

The Lufkin Fire Department and the Lufkin Police Department began the parade. Lufkin High School’s Panther Band followed by marching and playing “Jingle Bells.” Other local bands came to play, including Lufkin Middle School’s.

The Lufkin Cheer Department cheered and gave candy out to kids watching the parade.

The Christmas season continues at Lufkin High School. The LHS Choir Program will have its holiday concert at 7 o’clock tonight in the Tom Jack Lucas Auditorium. The Panther Pride drill team will hold its Christmas Spectacular show several times next Thursday and Friday, Dec. 12-13. And the Panther Band will have its concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 in the auditorium.
