Students look forward to homecoming every year. Although this year may look a little different, the homecoming game will still have the same Friday night feeling.
The Lufkin Panthers varsity football team will face New Caney High School in a district game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, on John Outlaw Memorial Field in Abe Martin Stadium. Homecoming ceremonies will be held before the game.
Members of the senior homecoming court — including Blayre Brent, Victoria Concha, America Diaz, Ki’Mya Hageon, Ke’Andria Hooper, Mia Lila, Gabriela Odalde and Kennedy Tinajero — said they are excited, but that it is bittersweet knowing that this will be their last high school homecoming.

Junior homecoming court members include Lom Bonilla, Enia Branch, Kelby Coutee and Izabella Morales.

Sophomore homecoming court members include Analicia Enriquez, Libby Flores, Ashley Silva and Mireya Soto.

Freshman homecoming court members include Danica Barrera, Charlotte Deaton, Natalie Limon and Nina Lopez.
Many events will be happening during and before the football game. The homecoming queen will be announced during the pre-game ceremony.
The Panther Pride drill team, the Panther Band, the Majorettes and the varsity cheerleaders will perform at halftime.
A homecoming pep rally is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Abe Martin Stadium. The Panther Pride and JV Drill, the band, the Majorettes and the LHS cheerleaders all are expected to perform during the pep rally, and the homecoming court will be introduced.
