A Lufkin High School football player has been invited to Hawaii for one last game.

Senior guard Julius Argumon, No. 79 on the Panthers’ varsity team, has been selected to play in the Hawaii Tiki Bowl, a national senior showcase football game held at Aloha Stadium with many college coaches in attendance.

Argumon said he will fly to Honolulu on New Year’s Day and arrive at his hotel on Waikiki Beach. While in Hawaii, he said, he will have the opportunity to go snorkeling, parasailing, catamaran sailing, and even climbing to the top of Diamond Head Crater.

Argumon, a 6-foot-2, 295-pound offensive lineman, said he hopes to gain some knowledge from the college coaches who will work with him in Hawaii. He said he has never flown and is very excited for his first flight.

On Jan. 5, Argumon will compete alongside high school football players from all over the country in the Tiki Bowl, held at the former longtime home of the NFL’s Pro Bowl. Argumon said he has an offer to play football at Culver-Stockton College, in Canton, Missouri, after he graduates from LHS.
