Eric Smallwood wants to scream and shout about playing collegiate football next year.

“I’d yell, but I don’t want to mess up the recorder,” Smallwood said. “But, I am extremely excited.”

Smallwood signed with Southern Arkansas  because the offer was to good to turn down.

“I mean, they were the only one’s who offered, and I’m not going to turn an opportunity like that down,” Smallwood said. “And it’s a full ride.”

Smallwood said that he can’t wait to be out on the football field.

“The school is so much bigger than I thought it would be,” Smallwood said. “It’s looks like a Division 1 school. So, I’m looking forward to the most is playing football again, but on Saturdays.”

When Smallwood went to visit the campus, he met some of the other players he will be on the field with this coming year.

“I met some of the defensive linemen that I will possibly be playing with next year,” Smallwood said. “The running back, quarterback and I met a couple of the receivers.”

Smallwood has been playing football for almost 10 years and didn’t stop putting in the hard work once he got into highschool.

“I’ve always wanted to play on T.V. so my dad could watch me when he’s not able to make it to the games,” Smallwood said. “I started playing in the fourth grade, and when I got into high school, I practiced a lot more. I’ve been practicing everyday after school for four years, and that’s not counting weekend practices.”

Smallwood is undecided about what he would like to major in and what he wants to do with the rest of his life.

“I don’t know what I want to major in yet, but I am thinking about kinesiology because I’m thinking about being a coach,” Smallwood said. “All I know for sure right now is that I want to get as many awards in football as possible.”
