The Lufkin Panther Varsity boy’s soccer team took on A&M Consolidated Tuesday February, 6. This was the first district game of the upcoming season and unfortunately the boys lost in a close score of 3-2.

The loss still didn’t discourage senior and team captain, Fabian Reyes, who feels like they’re going to do great this upcoming season.

“We feel excited, happy, and ready to take our skills to the next level,” Reyes said.

The team prepares for district by having long practices every day and giving it their all during games and practice. Their hard work definitely paid off for Senior Luis Garcia and Junior Alex Rios, who scored the two goals during Tuesday’s game.

“Our defense is getting better every day,” Reyes said. “Our forwards are pulling through and finishing the job by scoring goals. Our midfielders are controlling the ball and setting the pace.”

As far as the playoffs are concerned, the boys have made it to playoffs the past two years and are confident they will make them again this year.

“I have confidence in my team and our talent. We work very well together,” Reyes said.
