This Week in LP Sports: Football Panthers go on the road for district test

The girls golf team opens the week Monday with the Conroe Invitational tournament in Conroe.

Tuesday, the tennis team travels to Jacksonville to take on the Indians. Also, the volleyball teams host the Hallsville Lady Bobcats. The JV and freshman volleyball teams play at 5 p.m., with the varsity team playing at 6.

Friday, the volleyball teams travel to take on the Whitehouse Wildcats. The varsity team plays at 4:30 p.m., and the JV and freshman teams compete at 5:30.

The varsity football Panthers travel to Magnolia to play at 7:30 p.m. Friday against the Bulldogs. Last year’s meeting saw the Pack get by Magnolia by the score of 41-34. Magnolia comes into this game with a record of 3-1 after winning its last game against Waller, 31-20. Lufkin also is 3-1, having beaten Willis last week 42-13.

On Saturday, the cross country and swim teams cap off the week with the Mike Smith Invitational meet in The Woodlands and the Pineywoods Invitational meet in Lufkin, respectively.
