On Veterans Day Monday, the boys JV golf team travels to the Conroe Invitational tournament.

Tuesday, the girls varsity basketball team will play host to the Livingston Lady Lions at 6:30 p.m. in Panther Gymnasium on the Lufkin Middle School campus.

After an off day for the entire athletic department Wednesday, the girls golf team travels to Hallsville for the Lady Cat Invitational tourney Thursday.

At 7 p.m. Friday at Abe Martin Stadium, the Lufkin Panthers open the postseason with a home game against the (Texarkana) Texas High Tigers. The Tigers (6-4 overall, 3-3 in district play), fresh off a convincing 41-14 win over West Mesquite, enter riding a three-game winning streak.

The Panthers (9-1, 6-0) bring their nine-game win streak into the game after beating Waller last week by 42-14. According to Max Preps and Panther Growls records, Texas High has outscored its opponents 286-229, and Lufkin High has outscored its opponents 436-126. Lufkin’s lone loss came to Longview’s Lobos in which the Pack scored a season-low 21 points, and they scored a season-high 67 points against Los Redskins Del Estado from Mexico. On the defensive side, Lufkin allowed a season-high 24 points to Longview, and pitched road shutouts against Nacogdoches and Conroe Caney Creek.

Texas High was shut out once at John Tyler and scored a season-high 62 points against Texarkana Liberty-Eylau. Texas High’s defense allowed a season-high 62 points to McKinney North and only gave up seven points against the Arkansas Razorbacks for their lowest-scoring game.

These teams have not played any of the same opponents this year.
